The 2025 Burning Man Live webcast here:
Frequently Asked Questions
- How can I submit a message to the Temple?
- Please send your requests via this online form.
- What is the link to the webcast video?
- When will the link go live?
- Some time around Gate open at 12:01am Sunday August 24.
- Why does the angle look different from past years?
- The camera has been relocated to the BMIR radio tower directly on the Esplanade, so this year’s views will differ from past streams.
- Where is the live chat? The Slack, Discord and Facebook communities below are managed by Remote Participants — not by the BMwebcast team and are available year round.
We also encourage Remote Participation in a variety of online communities:
- Is there audio with the webcast?
- Yes, we regularly key up the microphone for conversations with guests. Burning Man Live podcast will also be joining us again (see below for details)
- There will also be live commentary during the Man Burn but generally not the Temple Burn.
- When and where is the Playa Postcard happening?
- There isn’t a specific postcard time scheduled but dusty participants are encouraged to find OC-11, this year at BMIR Camp.
- Can I follow the Webcast on social media?
- We won’t be streaming on these channels, but we will be sharing updates from the Webcast crew via @bmwebcast on Instagram
- Who else is talking on the webcast this year?
- The webcast is partnering with the Burning Man Live podcast, which will record from OC-11 in the mornings. See the bottom of this page for details on the interview schedule.
- Why do you not stream BMIR on the audio channel?
- Because you can do it yourself!
- Can I record and share the video?
- No. The webcast is original content for which the BMwebcast team holds copyright. Social media platforms require that you own the rights to what you upload. Recording or re-streaming this webcast violates both copyright law and platform Terms of Service.
- Violations will be addressed with legal DMCA take-down notices. These protections exist to Ensure Consent and Respect for Privacy of all participants on the playa.
- What is permitted:
- Embedding the original webcast link on another website is fine.
- Remote watch parties (for example, Zoom rooms, VR environments like Second Life “Burn2” or BRCvr) are allowed, as long as no video or audio recording of the webcast occurs. Recording those watch parties will be treated as a violation and subject to DMCA action.
- Think of it like this: a Zoom watch party is not much different than a group of friends watching together on a big screen TV. Share the experience, not the file.
- Can I take and share a screencap of the webcast?
- Yes, generally permitted as long as it does not violate the privacy of any participants.
- Please tag our Instagram account or your favorite social media with #BMwebcast!
- Can I set up my own livestream at Burning Man?
- No. Please read this Journal post to understand why.
- What kind of tech is used in the Webcast?
- The camera in use this year is the Axis Communications Q6355 PTZ dome camera. Livepeer is the CDN for both the video stream other AI interactivity. Email Motorbike if you want to nerd out on the details.
